*Was your childhood dream of becoming a writer erased by an over-zealous red pen?

*Do you want to take a writing class but always feel like a kindergartener in a college class?

*Have you been sailing through your manuscript and now you've hit a brick wall?

I can help!

Hello! My name is Dale Slongwhite.

For over twenty years, I have helped beginning, intermediate, and advanced writers achieve their writing goals.

Some of my clients wanted to improve their writing through practice. Others wanted to publish. Some needed accountability. Others needed direction.

What do you need?

My philosophy is simple: When we emphasize the positive, the negative eventually drops away.

In workshops, we talk about what you are doing right, what is memorable.

You learn by experimenting in a safe environment where you will not be critiqued.

You learn from techniques of other participants.

You learn when I point out.

You learn when I critique my own work.

Weekly Workshops on Zoom

We meet once a week on Zoom and write in the moment to topics and prompts I have tested over two decades.

Work With Dale:

Dale's philosophy in working with writers is this: When we emphasize the positive, the negative eventually drops away. In her workshops, we talk about what you are doing right, what is memorable. You learn by experimenting in a safe environment where you will not be critiqued. You learn from techniques of other participants. You learn when I point out. You learn when I critique my own work.

Coaching

Writing can be a lonely endeavor. Writers can be stumped by where to start, how to proceed, and how to say what they are trying to say. Dale has worked tenderly and successfully with writers to coax their misty ideas into coherent paragraphs then into published books. She starts with a free Discovery call in which the two of you plan a customized coaching package based on your needs.

Retreats

For the last twenty years, Dale has held a five-day writing retreat on Star Island, nine miles off the coast of New Hampshire. She has occasionally held one-day and weekend retreats on Cape Cod; in Madison, Connecticut; Westbrook, Connecticut; Storrs, Connecticut; in Rockport, Massachusetts; Rockport, Maine; and Altamonte Springs, Florida. Writers leave with the beginning of 15+ pieces, new writer friends, and a promise to come back! Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know

Workshops

We hold weekly Zoom workshops for writers of all skill sets and genres. We also hold weekly Zoom workshops for writers of specific genres. Contact Us for the dates of the next workshops starting up. Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know.

Our workshops and retreats include Dale Slongwhite as the leader who maintains a safe space to allow you to dive deep into your raw, authentic self through freewriting. You bypass the inner critic to find rich, deep material. You are witnessed, but not judged by others. You "try out" different styles. You write "just for the fun of it" or to be published.

What Previous Coaching Clients Had to Say:

"Dale Slongwhite took my hand through blood, sweat and tears and reassured me that it could be done in spite of my lack of knowledge. Without her help and humor Loonatics Keep Swimming would not have been published. I am so grateful for her expertise in the writing process as well as her encouragement to share more about other related topics I told her about. What an honor to know this writer and coach."

Jean Saunders Duling

"My husband Mario lost his hearing in his twenties from Neurofibromatosis Type II. He was trying to write his story but was having a difficult time. That's when he met Dale Slongwhite and everything changed. They sat together with an ASL interpreter or with a laptop passed back and forth to read each other's messages. She wrote the book with him and did the layout, including pictures and the cover. She organized a launch party for friends and relatives. Mario passed away several years after the book came out. He considered it one of the greatest achievement of his life."

"This book shares the struggles dealing with tumors and essentially about faith and survival. It's an encouraging book to help those dealing with tumors that faith in God supersedes any turmoil we many have here on earth." Cuemommy
